I will be using a huge number of food idioms in my story (or at least I was when I started writing it, and so will hopefully carry on), and any new ones would be appreciated:

big cheese
chalk and cheese

you can't make an omelette without breaking eggs
walking on eggshells
pretty/fine/different kettle of fish
no use crying over spilt milk
keen as mustard
nutty as a fruitcake
it's like using a sledgehammer to crack a nut

a finger in every pie
couch potato
hot potato [i.e. controversial topic]
souped up
not somebody's cup of tea
don't trifle with somebody
